Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
