Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
